For error 1026, read and preserve the complete restriction notice before choosing a response. The code alone does not establish a specific complaint, jurisdiction or outcome.
Ask the account owner to review the relevant account information and official review instructions. WordPress file changes do not explain a restriction imposed outside the application.

Preserve the notice and review the restriction
| Role or evidence | Action | Keep distinct |
|---|---|---|
| Visitor | Send the full notice to the site owner | No account access to review the block |
| Account administrator | Check the relevant dashboard entry | Actual notice versus speculation |
| Affected resource | Record exact URL and scope | Blocked file versus whole hostname |
| Review request | State role and supported facts | Completed changes versus promises |
| Reported resolution | Retest the exact resource | Homepage success versus file recovery |
Keep the exact notice and affected address
- Record the exact URL, full message and time zone.
- Keep any displayed request identifier.
- Check whether another normal resource still opens.
- Share the evidence with the responsible account owner.
- Follow the instructions for the actual notice.
Record the URL, the time with its time zone and the complete readable message. If the page includes a request identifier, keep that with the record. These details help the account owner or support team identify the event without guessing from a screenshot of the number alone.
Note whether the restriction affects an individual resource, a path or the whole hostname. A blocked image and an unavailable homepage are different scopes. Describing what still works helps the reviewer understand the visible impact.
Do not infer that a particular complaint, law or jurisdiction is responsible simply because the error falls in this category. The account notice and the service’s review process are the sources for that explanation.
Review the account information through the normal dashboard
The account administrator should check for relevant notifications and any blocked-content entry associated with the resource. Cloudflare provides a Blocked Content area for reviewing blocks where that workflow applies. It requires an appropriate administrative or Trust and Safety role.
If an active block is listed there, the documented review action sends it to the Trust and Safety team. This is a review process, not a guarantee that the block will be removed. Follow the instructions attached to the actual entry rather than assuming every 1026 result uses the same workflow.
A visitor who cannot access the account can send the full notice to the site owner. Repeatedly refreshing the page or changing the visitor’s WordPress password will not alter an account-level restriction.
Prepare a factual explanation
Structure the explanation as your role, affected address, notice received and relevant completed action with its date. Do not supply a generic claim that content was removed unless that is true and relevant. Keep the restriction review separate from any independently confirmed technical error.
A useful review request identifies the affected URL and explains your role in managing it. If relevant content has changed, describe the change accurately and keep the timing clear. Avoid claiming that a problem has been resolved unless the corresponding action has actually been completed.
For example, an administrator may need to explain that a notice concerns an old resource no longer present at the listed address. That explanation should be supported by the current state of the site, rather than offered as a generic response to every block.
Passwords, authentication codes and private account credentials are not needed in a public troubleshooting description. Use the service’s authorized review channel for any information it specifically requests.
Avoid treating the restriction as a routing problem
Moving the same content to another hostname or changing the connection merely to evade the notice does not clarify the underlying issue. It can also leave the administrator uncertain about which resource and request are being reviewed.
Keep the technical configuration stable while the relevant notice is assessed, unless a responsible administrator has identified a separate technical fault. A restriction review and a WordPress repair are different tasks, even if both affect the same public page.
If the notice raises a substantive dispute about rights or legal obligations, the error number is not enough to decide that dispute. The person responsible for the site should review the actual notice and obtain appropriate advice for the circumstances.
Complete the applicable review process
When the service reports that the relevant issue has been resolved, test the exact URL again and compare the result with the dashboard status. Then check related resources that were affected. A normal homepage view does not prove that a separately blocked file has recovered.
Cloudflare’s error response reference lists the legal category. Its Blocked Content guide explains the dashboard review workflow where applicable. The specific notice remains essential to choosing the correct next step.
Verify the reviewed resource after the decision
When the service communicates a result, compare that result with the dashboard state and the exact URL. Check related affected resources too. Preserve the review correspondence and factual change record; this article does not determine a rights dispute or promise removal of a restriction.
