Cloudflare error 1010 concerns a browser or client signature blocked by the site’s security settings. Identify the client that failed and report its request context. A monitoring service, integration and ordinary browser can send different headers; a successful browser visit alone does not resolve an integration failure.

Identify the client signature that was blocked
| Failing client | Investigate | Verification |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary browser | Current supported browser and specific security decision | Same address and normal workflow |
| Uptime monitor | Its request configuration | The monitor receives expected content |
| Custom integration | Relevant headers and client behavior | Its intended application response |
| One endpoint only | Policy scope and matching evidence | Affected endpoint and requests outside its scope |
Start with the client that actually failed
Record a reproducible comparison: same URL, failing client, working client if available, time and error screenshot. Note whether the client is an automated service or a normal browser. This helps the owner investigate the decision without guessing from the browser name.
Record the page address, failure time, error screenshot, and browser or application used. Distinguish a normal browser visit from a custom integration, monitoring service, or embedded application. Those clients can send different request information.
For example, an uptime checker may fail while an ordinary browser succeeds. That is a reason for the checker maintainer to review its request configuration and for the site owner to inspect the matching decision. It does not mean visitors need to reinstall WordPress or that every monitoring request should be allowed automatically.
Visitors should use a current, supported browser and report a continuing block to the owner. Avoid installing an unfamiliar “browser repair” utility or changing a managed device’s security settings in response to the message.
What Browser Integrity Check looks at
Cloudflare documents that Browser Integrity Check examines HTTP headers commonly associated with abuse. It can also challenge requests without a user agent or with a nonstandard one. A user agent is information a client supplies about itself; it is not a reliable statement of the visitor’s identity.
This helps explain why two clients reaching the same address can receive different results. The owner needs to review the actual request and policy rather than assuming that the visible browser name alone explains the block.
If a legitimate application sends unusual or incomplete request information, its developer should review that configuration. The goal is an accurate, supported client request, not disguising a client as another browser to evade a decision.
Review a false match at the narrowest useful scope
Before an adjustment, state the legitimate workflow and the existing policy’s purpose. Review actual request evidence and supported configuration with the administrator. Keep the original setting and the rationale for any focused exception so future maintenance can assess why it exists.
As the owner, connect the visitor’s report with the available security evidence and the current configuration. Keep the affected hostname and path in view. A feature that needs different treatment on one endpoint does not necessarily justify a change across the entire site.
Cloudflare documents selective configuration and skip rules for Browser Integrity Check. Where a legitimate workflow requires an exception, the administrator can evaluate an appropriately limited rule. The condition should describe the reviewed situation clearly.
For example, an agreed integration endpoint may need different handling from the public login page. A focused configuration can preserve that distinction. A broad exception described only as “make the tool work” is harder to assess and maintain.
Keep the original setting and the reason for any adjustment. The site owner should understand what protection changes and what other controls still cover the affected request before deploying the exception.
Confirm the original workflow works correctly
Retest with the client that originally failed. A browser success is insufficient when the problem belonged to a monitoring service or integration. Check the expected response content as well as the absence of the error screen.
Try a relevant ordinary browser request too, and verify that the adjustment stays within its intended scope. If the administrator added a limited exception, requests outside that condition should continue following the site’s chosen policy.
If the error remains, provide the owner with updated failure details and the sanitized client configuration. Cloudflare cannot override an individual site’s security settings for a visitor, so the access decision belongs with the owner or administrator.
A useful resolution explains which client characteristic triggered the problem and why the final configuration is appropriate. Retaining that explanation beside the exception makes later security reviews easier and prevents the same legitimate workflow from being blocked again without context.

Document the client signature and narrow exception
Retest the client that returned 1010 and inspect its expected response. Check an ordinary browser request and an endpoint outside any adjustment as well. Record the characteristic or configuration that was confirmed, instead of closing the issue based only on a different client working.
